Birmingham Alabama Newborn Photographer: Meredith Rowlen. Newborns will always be one of my favorite to photograph. I love that my sweet clients trust me with their brand new, most valued and loved possession! Some of my babies are just a week old and some a little older. I like to see babies between 7-14 days. A lot depends on feeding, is moms milk in and baby is getting full feedings or is baby bottle fed. A fed baby is a happy baby, absolutely no judgment here. Because a full baby sleeps and poses better and that’s what we are hopefully for.
Newborn sessions always include sibling and immediate family. I like to photograph siblings and family shots at the end of the session. And it’s best to start on just baby images since baby should be sleeping from the car ride. Baby can we wrapped for sibling and family images. I will make special arrangements for those of you that want family images but dad can’t stay for the entire session.
Two little boys, what a blessing. You know their home is going to be wild and competitive soon enough! Big brother was so proud of his little brother, it was adorable. We were able to get some great sibling and family shots with them both.
Undoubtedly siblings may find the session a little boring to sit through so I ask parents to bring them in about an hour into the session. If that’s not possible I have porch swings to occupy them if they won’t settle in my studio. I have a lot of space in the studio and I have a specific newborn shooting room, so iPads and phones can easily be used in the main room.
