Birmingham Alabama’s Best Fine Dining: Roots & Revelry downtown. Located in the Historic Thomas Jefferson Tower on Second Avenue North, Downtown Birmingham.
First off this building is amazing! The TJ Tower is 19 stories high and was completed in 1929. It first was a 350 room Hotel. Now it’s luxury apartments, event space for receptions and houses Birmingham Alabama’s Best Fine Dining: Roots & Revelry. Online it looks like their apartments start around $1230 and the most expensive on there as of today is $3,050.
Their ballroom is unbelievable. I have seen wedding receptions going on as we have been eating at Roots & Revelry. You could do your full wedding there, ceremony and reception. You can check out their event space pricing and ways to contact them here.
Now let’s get to the really good part. Roots & Revelry! Owner and Head Chef Robert Lynn is not only an amazing cook he’s a pretty awesome man to chat with too. His daughter and I share the same name, so clearly he’s good at picking names too, lol. It’s a long narrow room with booths, high tops and stand alone tables. The art work is beautiful and mesmerizing.
Every time we come we get the ARANCINI as our appetizer. The presentation is amazing and it tastes incredible. Mozzarella stuffed risotto, Smoked tomato marinara and Arugula. The first time we had it we wanted to order a second, it’s that good.
Sean has tried a few of the entrees but I always stick with my favorite, the filet Mignon. It is a 9 oz cut with yukon Gold Mash and Roasted Broccolini & Veal Demi. I’m just going to say Your Welcome up front cause it’s AMAZING.
Sean has tried the Mediterranean Pasta, Grilled Salmon and the 14 oz pork chop. You can check out those details here where the menu is. Sean always finishes what I don’t eat he’s had the filet many times and wanted one of his own.
The Chef insisted we try dessert. We got Chocolate Gateau and Cheesecake stuffed crepes. The Chocolate Gateau is rich chocolate with molten center, with cream Anglaise and Raspberry coulis. The cheesecake stuffed crepes is Blueberry compote and creme anglaise. I’m not even going to pretend I know what those words are, I just know it’s delicious! Totally worth a visit!
